Disneyland Park California

Welcome to the original Disneyland Park, located in the popular town of Anaheim, Southern California USA.

An early concert for an amusement park to be called “Mickey Mouse Park” was developed by Walter Elias Disney in the early 1950s with intentions for it to be located adjacent to the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank.

As the new ideas emerged, Walt and his brother Roy Disney realized that the Burbank location would be too small for their grand plans and moved the project to its current site in Anaheim California with a whole new name.

Construction began in 1954 and Disneyland Park was unveiled during a special televised press event on the ABC Television Network on July 17, 1955.

Since its opening, Disneyland has undergone expansions and major renovations, including the addition of New Orleans Square in 1966, Bear Country (now Critter Country) in 1972, Mickey’s Toontown in 1993, and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in 2019.

Disneyland Park consists of nine themed “lands” and a number of concealed backstage areas. Throughout the park are “Hidden Mickeys”, representations of Mickey Mouse heads inserted subtly into the design of attractions and environmental decor.

Disneyland has a larger cumulative attendance than any other theme park in the world, with 726 million visits since it opened (as of December 2018).

The park welcomes approximately 18.6 million visits a year, making it the second most visited amusement park in the world that year, behind only Magic Kingdom, the very park it inspired.

The Happiest Place on Earth

Inside The Park

Nine Different Lands
Main Street USA

Inspired by Walt Disney’s hometown of Marceline, Missouri, Main Street, U.S.A. is designed to resemble the center of an idealized turn-of-the-20th-century (c. 1910) American town.

Here you can get a new style hair cut at Dapper Dan’s salon, board the Disneyland Railroad for a gentle ride around the park, pick up those all important souvenir in the shopping emporium or grab a bite from the Jolly Holiday Bakery.

Walt Disney said of Main Street USA, “For those of us who remember the carefree time it recreates, Main Street will bring back happy memories.

Adventureland

Adventureland opened in 1955 with the Jungle Cruise as its star attraction, and has since gone on to adopt a 1930’s inspired theming.

Here you’ll find popular attractions like Walt Disney’s Enchanted Tiki Room which uses groundbreaking technology of audio animatronics, Indiana Jones Adventure which gave the entire land that 30s theme, and Tarzan’s Treehouse formally known as the Swiss Family Robinson Tree.

Frontierland

Frontierland is a wild west wilderness where you can ride the coaster tracks of the The Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, or rest & relax on the Mark Twain Riverboat or the Sailing Ship Columbia on a journey around the Rivers of American

The land’s long shoreline is considered a prime viewing location for the nighttime Fantasmic! show.

If you look closely in Frontierland at the storefront marked “Crockett and Russel Hat Co.”, there is a window honoring Fess Parker, who played Davy Crockett in Walt Disney’s Davy Crockett.

Fantasyland

Fantasyland is where you will find the enchanting Sleeping Beauty Castle, and a central courtyard dominated by King Arthur’s Carrousel.

Here you can go flying with Peter Pan over moonlit London, or tumbling into Alice’s nonsensical Wonderland. There are classic stories from everyone’s youth – of all ages – to participate in.

The plaque in front of the castle marks the spot where the Disneyland Time Capsule is buried. Sealed on the 40th anniversary of the park, it contains different items from the history of Disney parks. It is scheduled to be opened in the year 2035

Fantasyland was said, by Walt Disney, to be his favorite land in the park.

Tomorrowland

Tomorrowland represents the vision and fantasy of futurists such as H.G. Wells, Jules Verne and, of course, Walt Disney. Guests can zoom through the universe on Space Mountain, travel through the galaxy in Star Tours, drive the Autopia racecars and enjoy so much more as they experience the “future”.

Plus if your fans of the blockbuster movies Toy Story and Finding Nemo you can find fun interative adventures on Buzz Lightyears Astro Blasters or Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage.

New Orleans Square

New Orleans Square is based on 19th-century New Orleans, and is exclusive to Disneyland Anaheim.

The urban plazza is a weave of shops and restaurants, and is home to the popular attractions Pirates of the Caribbean and The Haunted Mansion.

You can also pick up the Disneyland Railroad from this land for a gentle ride around the park.

Critter Country

Critter Country is located in the northwest quadrant of the park, and is themed to the forests of the Pacific Northwest where you can find the Country Bear Jamboree, Teddi Barra’s Swingin’ Arcade, and Davy Crockett’s Explorer Canoes.

The lands biggest attraction is Splash Mountain’s which is about to undergo a major reworking to a new ride based on the 2009 animated film The Princess and the Frog.

Mickey's Toontown

Mickey’s Toontown is inspired by Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and resembles a set from a Max Fleischer cartoon. The buildings are stylized and colorful. There are several attractions involving classic cartoon characters, such as the houses of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and a small children’s coaster.

Disney has announced that Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open at Mickey’s Toontown in 2022. The attraction, which is expected to replace the Gag Factory store, will be the first new attraction added to Mickey’s Toontown since Roger Rabbit’s Car Toon Spin opened in 1994.

Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge

Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is set within the village of Black Spire Outpost, on the remote frontier planet of Batuu, and features attractions, shops, restaurants, and entertainment offerings.

In this land you can ride the latest state of the art attractions such as Star Wars: Millennium Falcon Smugglers Run, a simulator ride in which guests pilot the Millennium Falcon, and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, a dark ride in which guests are involved in a battle between the First Order and the Resistance.
