Sky Cinema Disney To Close This Month

Earlier this year, the Walt Disney Company closed its DisneyLife streaming service and launched Disney+ in the United Kingdom, which offers hundreds of Disney movies and shows.

In September, Disney closed all three of it’s Disney Channels in the United Kingdom, which had previously been available on Sky and Virgin.

It has also been confirmed that the premium Sky movies channel “Sky Cinema Disney” will be closing down in the United Kingdom on December 30th.

Making Disney+ the official home of all Disney movies in the United Kingdom from New Year’s Day.

This announcement was made in a Christmas TV Guide book, confirming the closure:

For Sky Q customers, the Disney+ app is available, though this does come at a further cost and won’t be included in a Sky Movies bundle.

The channel originally launched back in March 2013 and showed Disney movies throughout the day.

This will hopefully result in a much more closer release schedule with the US Disney+, as both “Onward” and “Frozen 2” were available on Disney+ much later in the UK due to this existing deal with Sky, which hopefully won’t be an issue going forward.
