Cirque Du Soleil newest performance “Drawn To Life” has had quite the ride already even though it has yet to debut as its only stand alone show. It originally started as the curtain closing for it’s predecessor “La Nouba” back on Dec 31st 2017, as the show finished it’s 19 year residency.
It was then announced that the brand new show would open in April of 2020, combining the creative efforts of Cirque Du Soleil, Disney Animation studios and Imagineering for the first time ever. But as you can image, as the year progressed and the Pandemic swept across the world, Cirque Du Soleil was hit hard and was forced to lay off 95% of it’s employees thus putting the show on hold once again.
Cirque Du Soleil President and CEO Daniel Lamarre has remained optimistic and believes the shows will gradually begin reopening in 2021 but that they will only be FULLY back in operation in 2022.
So far thoughm there is no “official word” from Walt Disney World OR Cirque Du Soleil on official opening date for “Drawn to Life.” although a Walt Disney World recent Blog post looked as if it was STILL slated to open this year (2021). The last rumored date was February 2021 and we have been keeping an eye out for verified info!
On the official Cirque du Soleil website, “Drawn To Life” is not listed as an available show. In addition, the “purchase Tickets” option is not listed on Cirque’s Website, nor is further info available on Walt Disney World’s site.
But, on countless event ticket sites the show is listed from February onward… It’s as if they are gearing up for an opening date any time, just not wanting to tempt fate but pre-emptying an official announcement.
